Every failed Hades II run we have ever coached had the same root cause: an Arcana grid assembled by vibes. The cards you awaken before stepping through the door shape your durability, your economy and your damage ceiling more than any single boon — so here are three configurations that reliably reach the credits, and the logic that makes them work.

1. The Safety Net (early progression)

Until your Grasp limit grows, run cheap and defensive: The Sorceress, The Wayward Son, Night and The Moon. Death defiance plus recovery smooths out the learning curve on boss patterns, and low-cost cards mean you awaken more of them sooner. The goal at this stage is not damage — it is seeing late biomes often enough to learn them.

2. The Omega Engine (mid progression)

Once your magick pool deepens, pivot the grid around channelled power: The Furies, Eternity, The Centaur and magick-regen support. Omega attacks scale ferociously with the right boon lines — pair this grid with any god whose channel bonuses you find, and prioritise cast upgrades at every crossroads. This is the configuration we used for our first clean clear on both routes.

3. The Glass Tempest (late game and high heat)

When you know the patterns cold, trade safety for ceiling: Death, The Champions, Origination-style multipliers and every crit-adjacent card your Grasp allows. You will die to mistakes you would previously have survived — but boss phases evaporate, and at high difficulty modifiers, shortening fights is its own defence.

Three habits that matter more than any grid

First: re-spec is free, so rebuild the grid for the route you are running — the surface route rewards sustain far more than the descent. Second: awaken cards you never use anyway; several grant passive Grasp synergies that quietly buff neighbours. Third: when a run offers a duo boon that fits your grid's thesis, take it over raw stats every time. Builds win runs; stats just delay losses.
